How we use cookies and your choices
Last updated: 29 August 2025. This policy explains what cookies and similar technologies we use, why we use them, and how you can control them under PECR and UK GDPR.
Summary
We try to keep cookie use to a minimum. Our website needs certain cookies to function (for example, to remember your cookie preferences). Other cookies — such as analytics or marketing — are optional and only run if you give consent via the banner or the “Cookie settings” link in the footer. You can change your mind at any time.
What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files placed on your device by a website. They can be set by the website you’re visiting (known as “first‑party” cookies) or by third parties (for example, analytics or embedded content providers). Similar technologies include local storage, pixels and SDKs; when we say “cookies” in this policy, we include those technologies as well.
Why we use cookies
- Strictly necessary — to make the website work, keep it secure and remember your choices (e.g. your cookie consent).
- Performance/Analytics — to understand how visitors use our site so we can improve content and usability. We only run analytics with your consent.
- Functionality — to enhance features such as forms or embedded content.
- Marketing — to measure campaigns or show relevant content, where applicable and only with consent.
Cookie categories we use
1) Strictly necessary (no consent required)
These cookies are essential for the website to function. They do not store information that directly identifies you.
- Remembering your cookie choices so the banner doesn’t reappear on every page.
- Load balancing and basic security.
2) Performance/Analytics (consent required)
These cookies help us understand how the site performs. We look at aggregate, not individual, behaviour. If enabled, analytics scripts are loaded only after consent.
3) Functionality (consent may be required)
Used to provide enhanced features, such as saving limited form information while you navigate. If these features are not used, these cookies may not be set.
4) Marketing (consent required)
We do not currently run advertising cookies. If we introduce them in future, we will update this policy and obtain consent first.
How to manage your cookie choices
You are in control. You can:
- Use the cookie banner to accept, reject or manage categories when you first visit.
- Use Cookie settings at the bottom of any page to change your preferences at any time.
- Adjust your browser settings to block or delete cookies. Useful links include: Chrome, Firefox, Safari and Edge help pages.
Blocking some cookies may affect website functionality. Strictly necessary cookies cannot be turned off in our systems.
List of cookies
Below is an illustrative list of cookies we may use. Actual cookies in use can vary by feature and will be reflected in the banner’s categories. If we add new cookies, this table and the banner will be updated.
| Name | Purpose | Category | Provider | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| pp_consent | Stores your cookie preferences | Strictly necessary | Primepath Venturs | 6–12 months |
| pp_session | Basic session security and load balancing | Strictly necessary | Primepath Venturs | Session |
| _ga | Aggregated analytics on page views (loaded only after consent) | Performance/Analytics | Up to 13 months | |
| _gid | Short‑lived analytics identifier (after consent) | Performance/Analytics | 24 hours |
When scripts load
Our site uses a gated‑loader approach: analytics and marketing scripts are stored behind a disabled gate by default and are only injected into the page after you give consent. If you reject non‑essential cookies, those scripts remain inactive. A pseudocode example of our approach is shown below:
{
"src": "https://www.googletagmanager.com/gtag/js?id=G-XXXXXXX"
}
// Loaded only if consent.analytics === true
Updates to this policy
We may update this Cookies Policy to reflect changes in technology, our providers or applicable law. We’ll post the new version here and update the “Last updated” date at the top of the page. If changes are material, we may provide an additional notice.
